Project Implementation Concept Workshop

ECP System Prototype Hands-On Practice Workshop for Professionals which was organized by RTI (Research Triangle Institute) with the support of SDE for RAJUK project-Construction Permitting System/URP-07. The objective of this workshop was to make professionals become acquainted with the preliminary version of the future ECP system and to simulate a plan approval process for developers, architects and engineers. Also to express feedback for further consideration by the software engineering team. The workshop was held at IT Training Lab, Department of CSE, BUET on 10th July 2019.

“Developers Outreach Meeting’’ was held at the Hotel Intercontinental on 20th June by RTI with the support of SDE with the key developers of Dhaka. The prime objective of the workshop was to gather input on needed reforms, and to provide information about the actions that are being taken under the Urban Resiliency Project.

Smart Development Engineering (SDE) Limited is assigned to do “COMPREHENSIVE STUDY ON A CITY WIDE GEOTECHNICAL AND GEOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION” by JV of NKY-Protek-Sheltec and SDE as subconsultant under Contract Package No.: URP/RAJUK/S-5; Credit No.: 55990 “consultancy Services for Development of Risk Sensitive Land Use Planning Practice” for Urban Resilience Unit(URU). Standard penetration test (SPT) is going on for this project. As per contract SPT will be done for 400 boreholes, covering 15,000 m length in total. From this test, samples from different boreholes will be collected and transferred into SDE geotechnical laboratory for further tests. First SPT test for S-5 was done on 18th August, 2019.

Smart Development Engineering (SDE) Geotechnical Laboratory consists of 4 ovens, 2 sieve shakers, 6 sieve sets, 5 cassagrande apparatus, 12 hydrometer jars, 1 specific gravity suction pump, 3 direct shear machines, 1 unconfined compression test machines, 16 consolidation test machines. Samples from SPT test are stored in laboratory and tests are done for different types of soil for determining soil type and shear strength. These tests include- visual-manual classification test, wash sieve test, grain size analysis, atterberg limit test, specific gravity test, unconfined compression test, direct shear test, consolidation test. These test results will be used for making whole soil profile of Dhaka city and generating seismic micro zonation map. Tests will be done for the samples from 400 boreholes.
