Research, Training & Capacity Building


SDE has conducted multiple action research to find optimum solution for engineering, consultancy and construction work for their own and third party’s projects. SDE has done research on risk analysis on cyclone hazard. A risk map has been prepared considering different parameters. In addition, from the historic impact analysis the impact level has been identified when the early action should start before the cyclone hit.

Besides that, research has been carried out on high strength concrete. By changing the aggregate ratio and the water cement ratio, different strength of the concrete has been examined and identified, which result in highest strength.

In another research cyclonic wind and storm, surge impact has been identified for rural housing in coastal areas of Bangladesh. To identify the impact, household survey has been done in sample areas and analysis is going on which will need some more time to be accomplished.

SDE has its own geolab to validate tests done by third party and calculate liquefaction and amplification.

Training & Capacity Building

Though SDE has recently been registered, the company has SDE has over 7 years of experience with an excellent understanding and network with public and private institutions like BUET, IUT, MIST, BUET-JIDPUS and have worked with them in the past in different projects.

SDE has conducted a training session on water and sanitation projects funded by UNICEF and DPHE. The training also included the arsenic sample collection system, assessment of Arsenic Iron removal Plant, supervision of latrine design and construction, method of latrine decommissioning, sludge management system etc.

SDE also led on job training course on topographic survey by RTK and Total Station for RAJUK officials during Jhilmil project boundary delineation. RTK and TS based digital survey technique with its unified 3-dimentional global co-ordinate system (x,y,z) output and computer based data storage & processing facility on and off the field offers immense flexibility in map production under GIS environment. RTK is a special form of Differential GPS that gives about one hundred times higher accuracy than DGPS does. Normal DGPS system uses single-frequency receivers where RTK systems use dual-frequency receivers. By using Static survey method and necessary data processing techniques, RTK-GPS can give results down to sub-centimeter level accuracy.

SDE organized a 3 days in house training course on advance GIS system for increasing the capacity of its professionals. The training was mainly focused on GIS spatial analysis, application of GIS for vulnerability analysis, Water resource mapping on an open source GIS platform, Earth quack evacuation planning map, preparation of DEM and Volume calculation etc.
